The International Journal of Environmental and Rural Development’s (IJERD) Plagiarism and Redundant Publication Policy is a zero-tolerance policy related to plagiarism, self-plagiarism and redundant publication, which is applicable to all authors and stakeholders specific to any and all content prior or current content and manuscripts.
All content submissions are screened using plagiarism detection tools, e.g., Paper Pal. Violations of the IJERD Policy shall result in immediate and complete rejection of submitted content. If violations of the Policy are detected or reported post-publication, an immediate retraction is required. IJERD will conduct a post-retraction review and determine if a time-limited or total ban of the author or stakeholder is justified.
All IJERD decisions related to the Plagiarism and Redundant Publication Policy shall be final and without the possibility of appeal.
Plagiarism Policy
- IJERD has a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding plagiarism and unethical publishing behavior. Authors must ensure that their submissions are original works and properly attribute all sources.
- Plagiarism includes copying ideas, words, data, or results from others without proper citation, as well as self-plagiarism where previous work(s) are reused without acknowledgment.
- Authors must cite all sources accurately, including direct quotations, paraphrased ideas, and data. Authors must avoid any misleading representation of originality and must appropriately acknowledge all contributors..
- Every manuscript submitted to IJERD shall be reviewed with plagiarism detection using tools. Manuscripts with similarity scores above a set threshold, i.e., 20%, require reduction of similarity before acceptance.
- Submitted manuscripts found to contain plagiarism are subject to immediate rejection or withdrawal of publication acceptance. If plagiarism is discovered post-publication, the publication is subject to retraction. The Editorial Board reviews and adjudicates each occurrence in a timely manner with available post-review actions including corrections, retractions, and notification to authors’ institutions.
- All Editorial Board decisions and actions shall be final and without the possibility of appeal.
Redundant Publication Policy
- Submissions to IJERD must describe original research which has not been previously published or is under publication consideration elsewhere. Duplicate or redundant publications of substantially similar content are prohibited.
- Authors must not simultaneously submit the same manuscript to multiple journals.. This practice is unethical and grounds for manuscript rejection.
- In cases where republishing is necessary, e.g., translation or secondary publication, authors must clearly cite the original source and obtain appropriate permissions.
Editorial Procedures and Compliance
- The IJERD Editorial Board, editorial team, peer reviewers, and Ethics Committees shall rigorously enforce these policies in order to uphold academic integrity.
- Alleged cases of plagiarism or redundant publication will promptly be investigatedby IJERD, following COPE guidelines for ethical publishing.
- Authors will be informed of the investigation results and they may be offered an opportunity to respond to and/or correct issues if appropriate.
- Continuous education regarding academic, research, and publishing ethics are promoted among all IJERD contributors. <=BACK
