Authorship and Contributions

Authors who wish to publish in the International Journal of Environmental and Rural Development (IJERD), must meet strict and established authorship criteria as detailed by international and IJERD publishing policies, best practice, and standards.

Authors must clearly state and appropriately acknowledge their individual contributions and roles for all content.

IJERD does not permit ghost, guest, or honorary authorship.

Changes to authorship after content submission must be justified and submitted in writing to the IJERD Editorial Board. The Editorial Board will review and consider the requested changes on a case-by-case basis.

The Editorial Board’s review and decision will be made on a timely basis with detailed communication and decision rationale provided to the authors in question. The Editorial Board’s review and decision is final.

Authorship Responsibilities and Contributions

  • All listed authors must agree to the submission and publication of the manuscript in IJERD and accept responsibility for its content, including the accuracy of citations and acknowledgments.
  • The corresponding author is responsible for communicating with IJERD  on behalf of all co-authors and she must confirm the agreement and authority from each co-author.
  • Submission of a manuscript to IJERD ensures that authors have the authority to publish the work and that it is original and not previously published or under publication consideration elsewhere.

Authorship Criteria

  • Significant contribution is expected from each author in the conception, design, execution, data acquisition, analysis, interpretation, or manuscript drafting and revision component for each manuscript submitted to IJERD.
  • All authors must approve the final manuscript version before submission to IJERD, and all authors agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that questions regarding accuracy or integrity are appropriately addressed.

Order and Number of Authors

  • The listed order of a study’s authors must reflect the relative contribution which each author contributed to the research and manuscript preparation.
  • IJERD recommends that no more than eight authors for single-institute studies and no more than five authors for case reports, images, or letters are included; exceeding this guidance requires written justification from the IJERD Editorial Board
  • After a manuscript is submitted, the list and order of authors cannot be changed without the written consent of all contributors and approval by the IJERD Editorial Board.

Acknowledgment and Documentation

  • Authors and contributors who do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged separately with their consent.
  • Contributions by professional writers and/or editors must be disclosed and acknowledged in the manuscript.

Process and Dispute Resolution

  • IJERD may request a detailed description of each author’s contribution to a study that authorship criteria can be verified.
  • Disputes regarding authorship or author order must be resolved according to IJERD’s editorial policies, which may require written acknowledgement and statements from all authors and from the IJERD Editorial Board.                                                     <=BACK
