AERD has a supportive role, providing some guidance, advice, comments or training. All implementation in AERD are focused on building farmers’ confidence so that they make decisions on how to solve the facing problems. Grouping of farmers is a way for facilitating among farmers through exchanging knowledge and experiences related to rural development in sustainable ways. AERD has been collaborated with international governmental, non-governmental organizations, or universities for supporting locals in Asian countries.

1. Activity on exchanging knowledge and experiences through holding the international conference and publishing the journal
The International Conference on Environmental and Rural Development will be held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, 4-5 March 2010. Also, the international journal will be published as a result of the conference.

2. Activity on reforestation and environmental rehabilitation
Forests have multi-functions for environmental rehabilitation. So, AERD has been supporting the reforestation activity in many areas of Thailand, such as Nan, Chiang Rai, Khon Kaen and Ranong Provinces.

3. Activity on the food, agricultural and environmental education in elementary schools
For popularizing the Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), the Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD) is running from 2005 to 2014. AERD also recognizes the importance of ESD and has been conducting the activity on the food, agricultural and environmental education at elementary schools in Khon Kaen and Phitsanulok of Thailand, in addition to Phnom Penh and Kampong Cham of Cambodia.

4. Activity on enhancing organic farming for sustainable agriculture
AERD has been conducting the program on promoting the sustainable use of natural resources for sustainable agriculture and environment conservation in many areas of Thailand and Cambodia. The contents of activities are composting, compost pelletizing, liquid fertilizer or pesticide making.
